I was on the phone with Grandma Annabelle tonight and decided to read her my posts.  I wasn’t sure if I should but asked her if she wanted to hear them.  After reading them to her she said she wanted them mailed to her.  These posts really touched her heart.  She wanted me to post something that her and grandpa would talk about every night.  When grandpa was going away to the the Coast Guard, this was before they were married, he would take a train from the Wapato train station over to Seattle.  This train would hoot its horn so loud.  The night that grandpa caught this train grandma was in tears.  When they would go to bed every night, they would talk about that darned train and how sad grandma was when he left.  The picture above is not them but I can just see this is how it would have been.  They loved each other so much!  Awesome memory for her to share.

Isn’t it funny how our world is so dispensable?  We like something, use it for a short time then toss it and get something even better.  I found myself so attached to my grandma’s plate set while I was visiting.  I used these plates ever since I can remember.  I know she had them before I was born because they were discontinued around 1968.  I love these darned plates.  My grandpa ate on these plates, cousins, great aunts and uncles-and alot of the people that have eaten off of these plates have passed away.  Oh the conversations these plates have heard and the desserts they have served.  The memories these plates have are like treasure chests full of gold.  This is what these plates mean to me and I am sure this is what they mean to her. 

It is interesting to try and figure out who you are most like, your mom or dad. After spending this long time with grandma, with nobody else around, I think I am most like her. I asked my mom what she thought and she said she thought so too. I asked my grandma what she thought, and she also agreed. No wonder grandpa was always so proud of me, he thought I was a lot like his bride. I am so proud. Sweet grandma!

In my grandparents 60th wedding anniversary picture(don’t have it scanned in), Grandpa was wearing a jean shirt. He always looked good in blue. His eyes were the most handsome blue you had ever seen. Last night grandma came in the kitchen with this shirt. She said “Honey, your grandpa was always so proud of you, he always told people how you were so special to him. I have been holding on to this shirt for you cause I know he would want you to have it and that you would treasure it.” For some this may not seem like much, but to me this is something I will hold dear to my heart forever. It still has the wrinkles in the sleeves from him rolling them up. I am honored to be given such a treasure.

Grandma and I have had so much fun today.  She says that she is feeling really good and that I need to come every month.  I know this isn’t possible but sure wish it was.  Her and I have so much fun together.  We made chocolate chip cookies, read some books together and laughed so hard we almost pee’d our pants. Tomorrow her and I are going to go shopping and have a girls day.  She doesn’t get many chances to go to town because she just has to watch over my uncle Jerry.  I will tell you about this amazing man later.  It is worth the wait.  Thank you for all your prayer cause Grandma is back to her old funny self.

We were sitting down for breakfast this morning and Grandma started to cry. Not just your ordinary cry, but weeping from deep inside. Of course the tears started rolling down my face. I had so many feelings watching her hurt so much. I just wanted to take all her pain away. You know, this is how God feel for us. I know that my sadness for her is only minuscual for how much God feels when we hurt. I know that the only comfort my grandma can get for her loss is through prayer, reliance on His word and fellowship. Please pray for my Grandma Annabell while I share his word and fellowship with her.

You know, I have to say that seeing my grandma smile and laugh has been so nice. Since grandpa died, she has been so sad whenever I talk to her on the phone and this breaks my heart. She has lost weight and appetite. She said tonight at dinner “I feel like I can eat better when people are here”. I am thankful that God gave me the gift to come visit. She is an amazing woman.
