Precious!

Last night I had a trying time with my little guy Turner.  He is such a sweet boy but sometimes he can just try my patience.

It all started at church.  We are doing ‘Walk Through The Bible’ and he did not want to go in there with us.  He basically whined the whole time.  Then when we got home at 8:00pm, he wanted to play video games.  We limit the time he gets to play and when I told him ‘no’ he had a bit of a tantrum.  That was it-time for bed!

Drama, drama, drama!  I explained to him why he was to go to bed immediately for his behavior and told him that I would not allow this, tucked him in bed, prayed and lights out.

I got Taylor in the shower and dried her hair and got her in bed.

Turner is calling to me, “Mommy, can you come here?”

“Yes Turner?”

“I’m sorry mommy” he says while crying

“Can you explain to me what you are sorry for?”  I realize this may sound like a dumb question but I feel it is important to reevaluate what happened.

“I’m sorry I was whining so much.”

I told him he was completely forgiven and that God wants us to respect one another and that whining does not get what you want(I’m giving you the abbreviated version).

He started crying even more.  I couldn’t figure out what was wrong.

“Turner, why are you crying so hard, what is wrong sweetie?”

He said, “I don’t like how I was acting Mommy,” while holding on to me really tight.

I have to say this was one of the most precious moments in parenting for me. Turner is only 6 yrs old.  He was so passionate about how he acted that it really upset him.  I was tearing up because of his wonderful heart.  It is a blessing to see God work in our childrens lives at such a young age.  Praises to Him.  We then prayed  about the evening, thanking God for showing us how he wants us to be.
