I told you all about my grandma’s plates. Nothing visually pleasing about them but they have so many memories to her, my aunt Judy and myself. Grandma was telling me that she was sad that these were discontinued (from 1968) because she was had broken a few dishes over the years. I went to a website called Replacements.com. Can you believe they had those pieces. I was able to get them sent to her. She was nearly in tears when I told her I found the dishes. These were from her 25th wedding anniversary. God is good!
Top Ten!
28 10 2007So Jim has inspired me to list my Top 10 list of favorite TV show. See his here. Here we go.
10. Electric Company-Okay, so it is really old but I used to love this show!
9. The Love Boat-Come on, you gotta love the stories that never changed! Gotta love those anchor graphics!
8. Three’s Company-Jack, Chrissy, Janet and the crew-too funny.
7. In Living Color-Okay-don’t push the panic button-lots of funny stuff on this old comedy show! Jim Carey’s brilliance comes out! Love Fire Martial Bill
6. The Deadliest Catch-Always on the edge of your seat type of show!
5. The New Adventures of Old Christine! Okay, this show is so stinking funny!
4. M.A.S.H-Brilliance, hilarious and one of the best shows ever!
3. Dr. G Medical Examiner-I love this show. Forensics has always been a huge interest to me. Don’t like CSI-so fake.
2. The First 48-I love this show because you go through the first 48 hours of a homicide investigation.
1. Big Brother-14 people in one house, being watched 24/7 by big brother, twist and turns and someone getting voted off each week. Every season a christian is on it so I love watching it. Won’t be on again until next summer. Must see!

One Eye Open…
28 10 2007So Jim thinks I am kinda strange, when I am really tired I walk around the house with one eye opened. For some reason it takes to much energy for me to have both open besides, when they are both open-eye see double(hah, hah), really strange. Well, I am sure you all did not care about this but again I am random! See you later, well maybe!

What did he say?
25 10 2007Taylor had a friend stay over last night. Turner just loves it when Brianna comes to stay the night(maybe he has a little crush on her, how cute). So this morning while making breakfast, I heard Turner at the top of the stairs saying, “Brianna, here is my Daddy’s underwear”. Okay, big deal or not I don’t really want Turner parading around the house twisting Jim’s underwear around his finger like a flag(especially if he got it out of the laundry basket) EEEWWWW.
Anyhow, I told Turner to come downstairs and asked him what he was doing. He was mortified at this point. Okay, at this point I knew that he knew what he had done was inappropriate by the look on his face. But now was a chance once again to learn about trust. I asked him, “You need to tell me what you were doing upstairs”. He was crying and saying he was so scared I would be mad at him. I set him up on the counter, put my hands on each cheek and softly said, “I love you honey, you need to trust mommy and know that you can tell me anything. If I am ever upset by something you have done, I always love you. Trust me with all your heart”
You see, this was an opportunity for me, as a parent to discern what was more important-sending him to time-out or teaching about trust. He already knew what he shouldn’t have done. I got a chance for him to trust me, even when he was in trouble. God wants us to trust him the same way. Take everything to him, he will teach us, help us comfort us, and most of all he will always love us.
So he told me what he had done, told me he was sorry and that he would never do it again. I told him I was proud of him for his honesty and that it must be hard to be truthful even when you do something wrong. I trust that he will not parade around the house with Jim’s underwear.
Grab these types of opportunities to teach trust because when they are in their teens, trusting your parents is so important!

Seafood–The best!
24 10 2007Okay, so I love seafood. I was just sitting down to enjoy a nice fresh tuna salad-then it dawned on me-I am telling on Jim!
You see, Jim and I have been together for 10 years, we enjoy a lot of things together and we are one in Christ-OOOPS-except in one area-SEAFOOD.
HE ABSOLUTELY HATES SEAFOOD(if you don’t like seafood-no need for your comments, I’m on a mission to change Jim’s taste-buds!) We are from Seattle for Pete’s sake! I don’t know why I am so passionate about him wanting to enjoy a nice Alaskan King Crab from the Beiring Sea but it sound so romantic to me to sit at a candlelight dinner, crab legs just cracking away! (Okay so that’s a little much-but I know God has a deep desire to change his heart where this is concerned-he changed Saul to Paul, didn’t he?)
Anyway, I have a feeling my mission on the transformation is fruitless. He does grill a mean steak though! Sorry honey, the secrets out!

Actions more important than the issue itself!
24 10 2007I had a previous post that talked about how we should act when we are in a diffulcult situation. Maybe a disagreement, someone has done you wrong or whatever the situation may be, out actions are critical!
Can you say-DUMB MOVE CHRISTINE. Okay, so I had a bad night. Things this year have been difficult, losing my grandpa and stressing about seeing grandma as much as possible, getting a 50 cent an hour paycut because I switched departments(they never told me about this), and just the run of the mill stresses.
I can’t stand it when people make excuses for their actions. What I do know is that I acted like an idiot, asked for forgiveness and thankfully the person was very gracious.
What was learned here? I cannot use the excuse of stress and sadness to justify how I respond to someone. It hurts my heart that I was upset about something so stupid and made someone else upset. Usually, things roll and I have grace. I have to trust that God is in control of the unknown and that the plan is being followed. I pray that I can find peace in the loss of grandpa and peace that I am not able to see grandma all the time.
So, this makes me feel better-I know everyone has had one of these days. I know that everyone can relate! Thank you God for giving me the ability to share this with others.
Please share one of your stories-I need a laugh! Thanks

May I have this dance?
20 10 2007Kids are so precious! Tonight Jim and I were sitting on the porch talking. Turner came out with a tears in his eyes and started mumbling. The only thing we could get out of his garbled sentence was ‘Monday’. You have to understand, Turner can turn on the waterworks. I asked him to repeat it and with big alligator tears rolling down his face he says, “Sissy say I hap to dance wiff a gil in gym cwash on Monday”. I kid you not I was busting up inside I almost pee’d my pants. I reasured him that this was not true and all was well. He was smiling and moved on to his next adventure. Then when it was time to go to bed I said, “Turner, I think you may have to dance with that girl on Monday” and his response was, “Oh man, I’m dead meat”. Jim and I were laughing so hard it was out of control. Turner thought it was pretty funny himself. By the way, we did tell him we were only kidding.

The Train…
19 10 2007I was on the phone with Grandma Annabelle tonight and decided to read her my posts. I wasn’t sure if I should but asked her if she wanted to hear them. After reading them to her she said she wanted them mailed to her. These posts really touched her heart. She wanted me to post something that her and grandpa would talk about every night. When grandpa was going away to the the Coast Guard, this was before they were married, he would take a train from the Wapato train station over to Seattle. This train would hoot its horn so loud. The night that grandpa caught this train grandma was in tears. When they would go to bed every night, they would talk about that darned train and how sad grandma was when he left. The picture above is not them but I can just see this is how it would have been. They loved each other so much! Awesome memory for her to share.
